Beloved ‘Everybody Loves Raymond’ & ‘Gilmore Girls’ Actress Is Gone at 97 — Her Remarkable Story Is Only Now

Bunny Levine was one of those familiar faces television viewers recognized even if they didn’t immediately know her name. She appeared in favorites including Everybody Loves RaymondGilmore GirlsLaw & OrderShameless and The Upshaws, as well as the Oscar-winning film La La Land.

Levine passed away peacefully in her sleep at her Tarzana, California, home on August 20. She was 97, and authorities said her passing appeared to be from natural causes.

But the most remarkable part of her story may be how late it all began. Before Hollywood, Levine spent roughly 25 years working as a school librarian and teacher. She didn’t receive her first professional film credit until 1988, when she was already 59.

Instead of slowing down, Levine built an extraordinary second career and continued acting well into her 90s.

Her journey became proof that sometimes the biggest chapter of your life can begin when everyone else thinks it’s already too late.
