Meghan Markle recently appeared on the cover of a major magazine without makeup, and the reaction online has been intense.
The 44‑year‑old Duchess of Sussex is featured on the December 2025/January 2026 issue of Harper’s Bazaar US. Many people immediately noticed her bare‑faced look and began criticizing her choice to go natural, while others speculated it may have been the magazine’s decision.
“Harper’s Bizarre and the photographer must really despise Meghan Markle. I can’t imagine any magazine or photographer letting these pictures grace the cover,” one person wrote.
“I think they forgot the airbrush,” another added.
In the photo, Markle wears a black silk blazer with a cinched waist, flared hem, and a bow detail in the front. She is seated on a stool against a grayscale backdrop.
The cover headline reads: Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, Meets Her Moment. The accompanying story is an unfiltered interview with journalist Kaitlyn Greenidge, in which Meghan speaks candidly about various aspects of her life — her love story with Prince Harry, her lifestyle brand As Ever, her time in the royal household, and the eventual decision to leave.
In the interview, the Duchess reflects on her personal growth and the controversies she has faced since becoming engaged to Prince Harry. She emphasized the importance of defining “boundaries.”
“I think my boundaries became stronger once I came into the public eye… You find different ways to protect yourself, whether that’s self‑preservation or it’s just growing up,” she said.
When asked about past regrets, Markle replied, “You learn not to do it again.”
“If it all goes swimmingly, you don’t learn from it. If you don’t learn anything, you’re not going to grow,” she added.
Online, many people criticized her appearance, with some accusing her of copying other celebrities who have embraced makeup‑free looks. One person wrote, “Pamela Anderson wannabe.”
Another commented, “Can we talk about her hairline? It happens to the best of us — but preferably not on the cover of a magazine. Photoshop anyone?”
