
Ingredients
Patties
- 1 lb 450g ground beef
- ½ cup breadcrumbs
- 1 egg
- 2 tbsp milk
- ½ tsp garlic powder
- ½ tsp onion powder
- ½ tsp salt
- ¼ tsp black pepper
Gravy & Sauce
- 2 tbsp butter or oil
- 1 medium onion thinly sliced
- 8 oz 225g mushrooms, sliced (optional)
- 2 cups beef broth
- 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 2 tbsp ketchup
- 1 tsp Dijon mustard
- 2 tbsp cornstarch
- 2 tbsp cold water
Instructions
- Make the Steak Patties
- In a bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, milk, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
- Mix gently and shape into 4 oval patties.
- Brown the Patties (Optional but Recommended)
- Heat butter or oil in a skillet over medium heat.
- Sear patties for 1–2 minutes per side until lightly browned.
- Transfer patties to the slow cooker.
- Add Onions & Mushrooms
- Scatter sliced onions and mushrooms over the patties.
- Prepare the Gravy
- In a bowl, whisk together beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, ketchup, and Dijon mustard.
- Pour the mixture over the patties.
- Slow Cook
- Cover and cook:
- LOW: 6–8 hours
- HIGH: 3–4 hours
- Thicken the Gravy
- Mix cornstarch with cold water to make a slurry.
- Stir it into the slow cooker during the last 20–30 minutes of cooking until thickened.
- Serve
- Spoon rich gravy over the Salisbury steaks.
- Serve hot with mashed potatoes, rice, or buttered noodles.
