Ingredients
- 1 pound 450 g ground sausage (mild or spicy, based on preference)
- 8 ounces 225 g cream cheese, softened
- 2 cups 200 g shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 can 10 oz / 283 g Rotel diced tomatoes and green chilies, drained
- 1 1/2 cups 180 g bisquick or baking mix
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder optional
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder optional
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine softened cream cheese and ground sausage. Mix until evenly blended.
- Add shredded cheddar cheese, drained Rotel, bisquick, garlic powder, and onion powder. Stir until all ingredients are well incorporated.
- Form the mixture into small balls, about 1 inch (2.5 cm) in diameter, and place them on the prepared baking sheet, leaving a little space between each ball.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 20–25 minutes, or until sausage balls are golden brown and cooked through.
- Remove from the oven and let cool for 5 minutes before serving.
- Serve warm as an appetizer, snack, or party favorite.
Tips:
- For extra spice, use hot sausage or add a pinch of cayenne pepper.
- These sausage balls can be made ahead and frozen; just bake them directly from frozen, adding a few extra minutes to cooking time.
